“Offer to God the voice of Thanksgiving.” (Psalm 50:14)
One part of our ministry at Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen that many may not know about is our Thrift Store, located at 1620 N. Palafox (850-438-4166). This facet of the ministry, while providing revenue from the sale of donated items, is also a blessing to the many homeless families with children who stay at our Emergency Family Shelter. Our families, according to size and need, are given vouchers that allow them to shop at our Thrift Store at no cost to them.
One such family with two young boys recently went shopping at the store. After getting back to their room here at Loaves and Fishes, the mother was telling one of our staff about how excited the boys were with what was to them, their new clothes. She said they actually put on a fashion show, changing into each new article of clothing. What a blessing to see the joy of these children over such a little thing.
Thanks for your support of our ministry. We keep you in our prayers. Let me also encourage you to donate to and shop at our Thrift Store. We have some great bargains.
Peace in Yeshua,
“Give and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap and good measure, shaken together and running over.” (Luke 6:38)
“I know you!” It was a salesperson in the department store I was in.
“Yes, twenty-seven years ago you gave me and my three year old daughter a home to live in when we were fleeing from my abusive husband and we were homeless. My daughter is thirty now, married, and has a daughter of her own. It hasn’t been easy, but with your help, we were able to get away from him and begin a new life. I see you on TV sometimes and I’ve wanted to call and say thank you.”
“Well, you just did and I appreciate that.”
Sometimes God just slips up and kisses you when you least expect it. Ain’t God Good!!
Thanks for your part in helping those who come to Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen. Your financial support blesses thousands of people. We pray your measure will “run over”.
Peace in Yeshua,
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Psalm 34:8)
There was much excitement as we opened the doors to the dining hall this morning and our hundred or so guests came in for breakfast. We had been closed for two weeks while renovations of our twenty-seven year old building took place. During that time we had given meals to go to those who eat with us every day. Everyone was amazed at our brand new, bright ceramic tile floor and our newly remodeled bathrooms with new fixtures and shiny new stalls. Everything was spic and span. Our folks were both surprised and grateful for what they saw as a communities care and concern for those who could not repay such a gift.
We had received a very generous grant from a local organization that enabled us to do these and other much needed renovations to our dining hall and emergency family shelter. We are so very blessed by the generosity of our community and we want you to know that those we serve are very thankful to you for your gifts to the “least of these”. It is so uplifting to those who feel downtrodden to see tangible evidence of others concern for them.
We want to thank you for what you do for the ministry of Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen. Please know you are in our prayers and that your gifts are helping us make visible that “the Lord is good”. May God continue to bless you richly in all your endeavors.
Peace in Yeshua,
